Oak Street Style set sail with Society to capture the nautical inspired fashion aboard the Fume Blanc Commodore Yacht. Check out a few of our favorite looks from Maiden Voyage by Oak Street Style photographer: Frederick Shavies. For the complete set, visit their site. Be sure to "like" their facebook fan page for the album... And feel free to tag and brag!
We are fortunate to be in the company of some talented people in the Bay Area, who not only go out of their way to help spread the word about our event, but also are thoughtful enough to help document it. One of our guests, a good friend of our good friend and guest DJ, The Selecter DJ Kirk, was so kind enough to capture two of the most striking images of our Maiden Voyage this past Sunday.
It is my pleasure to share these wonderful photographs captured by the astute eye of Fred Eagle. Learn more about Fred, his projects for America's Cup and all things sailing related here. If you'd like to share your experiences of our event, get in touch! We'd love to get to know you. -FA
No offense San Francisco, but I love Oakland. Every so often I hop on BART to visit friends and colleagues, ultimately thinking…damn, I want to live here. Just a few days ago, I brought an NY -> SF transplant to Oakland for the first time. He was taken aback, “This places oozes of style. People here are so damn fresh…”
A few months back at Oakland ‘s First Fridays/Art Murmur, I was fortunate enough to meet a new group of folks “documenting and featuring the style of creative people.” With a discerning eye, they scout for and highlight amazing backdrops, people, and moments with their photo shoots.
Part art project and part movement, they explain in their bio, “[w}ith our roots in Oakland, we are truly inspired by the style that exists here of authentic self-expression, diversity and creativity. We know that this perspective is of great value to the global conversation of fashion and beauty.”
Dress fresh Society attendees, Oak Street Style will be on the lookout for you!

Sometimes you find talented people by seeking them out. And in other cases it happens through sheer dumb luck. Okay, maybe it isn't dumb luck. Perhaps cliches like "the law of attraction," or "great minds think alike," or "birds of a feather flock together" actually hold true.
Such is the case with Karim Davis, aka P Is For Props, the official photographer for Society Experiment 01 • Maiden Voyage. I was fortunate enough to meet this Angelino - via Brooklyn via Ohio - at the original SFNY Yacht Party (or was it one of the long and foggy nights at JP's?!). Our friendship is a result of one of those cliches, where the right things fall into place at the right time.
Since we've met, I've witnessed Karim humbly capture the glory and charm of his surroundings, with his photos appearing in such publications as SF Weekly, LA Weekly, Fader, Spin, and his own site pisforprops.com
To me, he doesn't just snap pictures of a party. Karim is able to freeze a moment in life like a magician, making sure the best time you had all day/week/month/year will forever be preserved as a screensaver or a facebook profile picture, etc. And just like an illusionist, he brings something out of those seemingly "whatever moments" that you may not have noticed at the time. - Patrick "King Most"
